An easy and cute lunch box for my little girl!

Second lunchbox for my kid with egg and cheese sandwich, grapes, and corn.

Really really love this bear-shaped sandwich maker. I can always count on it to make food fun! It’s pretty self-explanatory but, just in case, this is how you use it. Oh, and this is the lunchbox we used. It’s not bad.

I made my first lunch box for my little girl!

First lunch box I made for my little girl so I think this is definitely worth documenting.

For the longest time, Iโ€™ve been blessed with school provided lunches. However, knowing todayโ€™s lunch is something my daughter wouldnโ€™t like, I bought this lunchbox yesterday via same-day shipping so I could whip up something quickly for her to bring to school. It was probably meant to be as this was a lightning deal and was only $11!

Bento Box
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
I was looking at those highly rated bentgo ones but they are $25 with a lot of wasted space between compartments. While I was hesitating, I saw this $11 bento box with thin walls and a storage place for utensils! It says itโ€™s microwaveable but I never really like putting flimsy plastic in microwave.

I like it so far. I would probably prefer putting fresh, room temperature, or cold food in there, and look for another option to put cooked food.

The tool you absolutely need when you cook!

Ever wonder what to do with your pot/pan lids and ladles while you are cooking? It used to take me a few seconds to look around and decide if I should leave them on the stove, put them on the countertop (and have to clean up after), or find a plate/bowl/whatever is available and have more things to wash later. This is until I stumbled upon this ladle & lid stand while shopping for a kitchen spice rack…

Yamazaki Ladle & Lid Stand
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
Never knew I NEED this until I bought it. Not only does it look sleek, I now finally have a place to put the lid and ladle while cooking without having to leave them on the stove or countertop and have drips all over the place!

The problem is that my husband steals it sometimes because he says this has the perfect angle for his iPad/iPhone. Moreover, the edge is very low profile so it doesnโ€™t block any part of the screen.

… I might just have to get another one now.

Is La Mer really worth the hype?

For years, I have been hearing about the La Mer. However, it’s never really crossed my mind to buy them because it’s so expensive. Couple months ago, my dear husband bought me this trial set of the famous La Mer Creme De La Mer and it also comes with the La Mer Concentrate. I have been putting it aside somewhere in my drawer because I didnโ€™t want to disrupt its luxury status by opening and using it. On the other hand, I already have other much cheaper skincare products I was already using.

After several months, as I was slowly depleting my skincare products, I decided I should use the La Mer before it expires and goes to waste. I also really want to use it on a consistent basis to see if itโ€™s actually worth the hype (and money).

On March 9th, I finally opened the bottles. After cleansing and toning my face, I opened that little green container and applied this fancy La Mer Concentrate serum on my face, and followed it with the La Mer Creme De La Mer.

La Mer The Concentrate (The Trial Size Pictured)

Overall

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

At $31 for the trial size, it’s definitely not too much to shell out to give this luxury a try. I canโ€™t really tell whether this makes my skin better. I could only believe that it has to work because itโ€™s so expensive, mirite? The smell and texture makes me feel like a queen though. So i will probably only buy it if I really want to splurge on myself for the few seconds each day when I get to smell and feel the productโ€ฆ. Actually, nah, I’ll probably spend it on something that I know works unless I have extra money lying around.

Fragrance

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This little concentrate smells like luxury and nothing Iโ€™ve ever smelled before. The smell reminds me a little bit of the ocean for some reason. It literally smells like complicated skincare science because it smells artificial, yet in a good luxurious way.

Texture

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The texture of the concentrate is really really smooth. It goes on your skin like it was never there and the application feels like it glides right on. On one hand, it felt like a little goes a long way. However, it is also because of how smooth it is, I actually canโ€™t really tell it Iโ€™m using enough. If I put more on, it feels the same though that it dissolves into your skin right away. Maybe thatโ€™s how they get you to use more so you could buy again.

La Mer Creme De La Mer (The Trial Size Pictured)

Overall

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I also can’t really tell if this creme is giving me glowing skin. At the beginning, when I was using it twice a day, my skin started to feel dry a couple hours before my next application. I might be skimping on the products so I started using more of this along with more serums, and the creme finally started doing its job of moisturizing. So far, my skin is little softer but I’m not sure if it’s because of the creme of because of the fact that I’m using more of everything else as well. Hence, I’m not sure if it’s worth $100s of dollars just to moisturize… I like the luxury but I wouldn’t feel comfortable using a lot of it so I don’t think this would be the only moisturizer I use even if I were to buy it again.

Size / Value

Rating: 5 out of 5.

You are supposed to rub it on your hands until it turns clear before putting it on your face. I felt like that’s just their way of making you use more products because you are rubbing it into your hands instead of your face. However, with the tiny trial size bottle I had, I was amazed that it could last me more than a month using it twice a day. It’s now April 11 and I still probably have another week worth of product left in that tiny little jar.

Texture / Absorption

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This creme is definitely on the thicker side. Exactly because I have to rub it in my hands before putting it on my face and the fact that this is pretty thick, it doesn’t spread easily when my face is dry after absorbing all the Concentrate serum and I use more than I normally would with other thinner products. However, since I’ve used up the Concentrate and back to using my DRMTLGY needle-less serum, I’ve recently found out that the creme spreads more easily when my face is still damp from the serum. I guess I was just being too cheap and didn’t use enough of the Concentrate then…

With all that said, these are definitely one of the best gifts you could ever get for anyone who uses skincare products though. It’s luxurious, it’s expensive, it’s thoughtful, it’s like gold in a jar. If they are new to it, it’s probably something they don’t want to buy for themselves because of the price. And even if they don’t like it, they could return it for the money lol.

Backyard Shopping List for the Summer

We are moving to a new place where we will finally have a backyard. Since summer is coming, I might as well start compiling a list of things we should get to prepare for some fun in the sun.

1. This NERF RoboBlaster! You will have to shoot down the targets to dismantle the NERF RoboBlaster! I can already see my kids spending those hot days blaster water at each other! Looks like I will also have to buy some NERF super soakers to go with this…

2. .. and this Thermacell Rechargeable Mosquito Repeller. I hate mosquitos and so do my kids. It’s hard to enjoy the great outdoors with all these blood-sucking insects flying all over the place. This Thermacell says it can create a 20-foot mosquito protection zone. Will definitely try this out.

3. …and this Bug Bite Thing. I first saw the Bug Bite Thing way back on Shark Tank and have always been curious about it. I’m going to add this to the list to remind myself when this comes in handy (hopefully never?)

Fastest Way to Cure Cracked Lips

I used to use the Laneige sleeping mask a lot and they do fantastic job giving me dewy skin. I love the brand but sometimes it gets pricey getting their whole line of products. I’ve been having mild dry lips so when I saw this lip sleeping mask, I decided to give it a try.

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask

Rating: 5 out of 5.

When it arrived, OMG, this little container, the packaging, and the little “spatula” applicator are so pretty I was going to faint!! I kept it on my counter top for the last two months because I didn’t want to ruin its perfect shape.

We went to Tahoe last weekend, and basically we were just blasting the heat in our Airbnb. The air became so dry that, in merely a day, my lips were all cracked and skin was coming off. I decided to finally open this and put this on for two nights. The crack is gone, there’s no more peeling skin, and my lips are now more supple than they have ever been… Should’ve done some lip masking years ago since my husband has always noticed that my lips are dry. Never too late I guess! ๐Ÿ™‚

Overall: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Scent: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Love the smell. It smells sweet and sort of like strawberry and nothing like those chemical cherry smell. I let my daughter smell my lips and she wanted to put it on too!

Moisturizing: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Absolutely moisturizing. It’s quite thick and hence it’s a mask. It does go on a little glossy so I could potentially use it as a lip gloss too ha!

Packaging: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

100% LOVE. I love it so much I’m so cautious about ruining the little spatula… the mask can pass as a little decor on my desk.

Functionality: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Does what it does, efficiently too!

Best Wearable Blanket to Keep the Kids Warm

I don’t know about you, but my 1.5-year-old can’t use a blanket and my 3.5-year-old refuses to keep a blanket on when she sleeps. I tried putting more layers on them, but exactly how many layers could we add without giving them difficulties moving around??? I’ve also tried wrapping the 3.5-year-old up with an Olaf convertible fleece throw (alternative) like a burrito. That seemed to have solved the issue. However, the fleece wasn’t thick enough for the winter and it sometimes gets unwrapped during the night with her rolling in circles and changing her sleeping positions for the 50th time at night.

Then it hit me, what if they just wear their blankets! I searched Amazon. There wasn’t a lot of choices with long sleeves, legs for them to waddle around, high enough TOG, and a decent amount of reviews. Basically just this one option:

Baby Sleeping Bag / Wearable Blanket

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I’m so glad I found this on Amazon. This particular wearable blanket is thick at 2.5 TOG (suitable for room temperatures 64ยฐF- 70ยฐF), has long sleeves and legs, and has 1700+ reviews averaging 4.6 stars out of 5! To my surprise (not listed in description), it even comes with detachable mittens and booties that you can attach on for added warmth!

This gives me a piece of mind that the blankets “stay on” throughout the night. Plus, my kids look uber cute waddling around in it. I got two sizes for each of them, and I’m definitely planning to up-sizing once the older one outgrows it. Such a must-have for cold weather!

This best-selling eye cream is only $11

I saw an article about this $11 Cerave eye cream so I had to check it out on Amazon. It has over 25K reviews with an average of 4.4 out of 5 stars. It’s also the eye cream with the second most reviews (this Cetaphil one is the one with the most reviews, 33K at the moment). We already use several of the Cerave products, especially for the kids as Cerave is a brand recommended by our kids’ dermatologist, so it wasn’t hard to convince me to try this eye cream when it’s only $11.

Cerave Eye Repair Cream

Rating: 5 out of 5.

On Amazon, it says it targets dark circles and puffiness. I’ve been using this every morning and night for over a month now, and I do see an improvements in my under eye area. Especially on days when I’m lack of sleep and expecting darker circles and puffier eyes, the cream definitely has worked its magic to prevent that from happening! Even though this eye cream doesn’t advertise reducing fine lines around my eyes, I feel like it’s doing that as well since I’m regularly adding moisturizing ingredients onto my skin.

Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid to help retain skin’s natural moisture, Niacinamide to help soothe skin, and 3 Essential Ceramides to help restore & maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

Amazon

This eye cream does what it says in reducing puffiness and dark circles. I still want to try something that targets the fine lines though so until it’s time for me to try something else, I would definitely continue to use this every day and night.

How to eat vegetable without eating vegetable

Weโ€™ve been doing a modified keto diet following what everyone is doing in this facebook group. However, I’m not a veggie person, and after 12 long weeks, I’m definitely not eating as much vegetable as it’s advised.

I’ve been seeing this young barley grass powder in Asian grocery store so I decided to to give this top selling supplement a try to up my veggie intake!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I add this to milk / soy milk along with some almond powder, sesame powder, flax seed, and chia seed, and it actually tastes pretty good! It’s not too pricey at $0.375 per sachet. This only has grass powder and nothing else so it sounds healthy. I will definitely keep taking this. I’m giving it only a 4-star because, as a lazy non-vegetable eater, I would like to look for other options that offer more vegetables in a bag…
